A field worker app scoped to today's assignments

Field staff open one screen, see only the work assigned to them, and send attendance, status and photo evidence back to the same job record the office is working from.

The short answer

A field worker app gives mobile staff their assigned work and a simple way to report attendance, status, notes and evidence. The Servenzo Labour App for Android writes those updates straight onto the job, so scheduling, attendance records, contracts and invoicing all read from the same source instead of a chat thread.

What this workflow should improve

  • Show each worker only relevant assignments
  • Capture clock-in and clock-out against work
  • Upload before-and-after photos
  • Return status to the office without a phone call

Reduce the worker's decision load

Field staff should not have to navigate a back-office system to start work. The assignment view shows the site, the scope, the contact and the expected evidence, nothing else. Office-side complexity stays in the web workspace, where dispatchers and coordinators need it.

Keep chat for communication, not as the system of record

WhatsApp is good at reaching a worker in seconds and bad at answering "was that job finished, and can we prove it?" three weeks later. Servenzo uses WhatsApp notifications as the prompt while status and photo evidence stay attached to the job record.

What the office sees when a worker updates a job

A clock-in stamps the attendance record, a status change moves the job on the schedule board, and uploaded photos attach to that job permanently. Because the job already carries the customer, site and contract, a completed job can be turned into an invoice without re-entering anything.

A practical workflow

  1. Add the worker and assign the required role.
  2. Schedule and assign the job from the web workspace.
  3. The worker opens the assignment and records progress.
  4. The office reviews status and evidence on the job.

Scope: what this does not cover

The public worker app is Android. The app can capture GPS at supported attendance and work events when the worker's device grants location permission. It is not continuous background tracking, and Servenzo is not positioned as a fully offline field platform or a route-optimisation product.

Questions about field worker app

What can workers do in the Servenzo app?

Workers can view assignments, clock in and out, update job status, add notes and submit before-and-after photos against the work record.

Is the worker app available on iPhone?

The current public app is Android. Confirm iOS requirements with the Servenzo team before you plan a rollout.

Do workers need access to the full office system?

No. Worker access is scoped to assigned work rather than the full administrative workspace, so there is very little to train.

Does the app track a worker's location all day?

No. Location can be captured at supported attendance and work events when the device grants permission. There is no continuous background tracking.

Can subcontractors use the same app?

Yes. Assigned work can go to your own staff or to vendor and sub-vendor workers, which is managed on the [subcontractor management](/solutions/subcontractor-management-software) side of the workspace.
